Money Rush Slot Review
Money Rush is a medium-volatility slot game designed to capture the classic gameplay of old slot machines from the golden age of casinos. It employs fairly simple, traditional features and lacks any storyline or specific underlying theme. Let’s break down its individual aspects and dive into the details.
Theme
Playing Money Rush feels like going back in time to 1970s Las Vegas. The game does a fine job of capturing the essence of old-school casino gaming, both in terms of gameplay and visual style. The regular paying symbols include a BAR, a double BAR, a Dollar sign, a bell, a chest, and some 7s, which can hopefully bring more luck to your gaming.
It’s interesting that some slot games use the word BAR on their reels because, historically, winning spins awarded actual gum bars as prizes. You’d spin, land a winning combination, and receive a free gum bar. However, even after prizes changed, the BAR symbol remained and has since become a classic feature in slot games. As Money Rush aims to capture the spirit of classic slot games, it’s no wonder it chose BAR as one of its paying symbols.
Similarly, the bell symbol dates back to the first-ever slot machine, the Liberty Bell, where the bell represented the highest-paying symbol and has remained a classic in slot games ever since.
Graphic, Sounds and Animations
The playing grid consists of pearly white reels enclosed by a shining golden frame, set against a crimson red background. Overall, the game is dominated by bright red and gold colors, with the addition of some purple and blue shades. The graphics are of pretty good quality, and every visual feature of the game seems well-designed.
However, at the same time, Money Rush uses the exact same pixelated animations as the Piggy Bank slot by the same developer, even though Piggy Bank is itself a bit pixelated, and such animations look much more on point than here. For some reason, the developers didn’t take the time to redesign the animations even though they invested quite a bit of effort into the Money Rush slot.
RTP, Payout and Volatility
What makes the Money Rush slot stand out is its high RTP of 97%, which is, quite frankly, one of the highest I’ve ever seen. Its volatility is classified as medium, and it feels very well-balanced while playing. Winning combinations land every few spins, which is no surprise with 243 paylines. The downside is the limited potential for large wins, with a max win of just 1,000x the bet, which isn’t particularly impressive. This makes the game better suited for laid-back, casual play without bigger risks.
Gameplay
Based on my personal experience, I always advise players to try out free demo games before playing for real money. Regardless of a game’s complexity or volatility levels, it’s always a good idea to familiarize yourself with its gameplay and features beforehand.
Money Rush keeps its gameplay fairly simple and traditional. The playing grid consists of 5 reels and 3 rows, with 243 paylines formed out of 8 regular paying symbols, which are shown in the table below.
| Symbol | 3x | 4x | 5x |
| BAR | 0.20x | 0.80x | 2.00x |
| Double BAR | 0.40x | 1.00x | 3.00x |
| Dollar Sign | 0.60x | 1.20x | 4.00x |
| Bell | 0.80x | 1.50x | 5.00x |
| Treasure Chest | 1.00x | 1.50x | 6.00x |
| Single 7 | 1.20x | 2.00x | 8.00x |
| Double 7 | 1.50x | 3.50x | 10.00x |
| Triple 7 | 2.00x | 5.00x | 15.00x |
The regular symbols are boosted by two well-known special symbols — the wilds and the scatters. However, an interesting feature of the scatter symbols in Money Rush is that each of them is itself a mini slot with 3 reels and a single row. At the end of respins, each mini slot spins independently, landing its own set of prizes from a special payout table displayed below. We’ll discuss the respins and mini slots in more detail in the next section.
| Symbol | Payout |
| Any 3 mixed fruits | 1.00x |
| Any 3 mixed 7s | 2.00x |
| Cherries | 3.00x |
| Plums | 4.00x |
| Watermelons | 5.00x |
| Blue 7s | 10.00x |
| Red 7s | 20.00x |
| 1x1x1x Minor | 25.00x |
| 2x2x2x Major | 100.00x |
| 5x5x5x Grand | 1,000.00x |
Features
The Money Rush slot keeps things simple and sticks to a few classics, well-known features. Those are:
- Wilds – Substitutes any symbol except the scatter.
- Scatters – Landing 6 of them triggers the respins.
- Respins – When 6 or more scatters land, they trigger 3 respins and remain sticky for the duration. Each time an additional scatter lands, the respin counter resets to 3, continuing until either the entire grid fills with scatters or all respins are exhausted without any new scatters landing. When this is done, the game moves to the next phase.
- Mini slots – At the conclusion of the respins, all of the accumulated mini slots start to spin, one by one, landing prizes that add up to the total respin win. There are 3 types of mini slots — the Minor, Major, and Grand — differentiated by the maximum prize they can land, with 25.00x, 100.00x, and 1,000.00x, respectively. If every single position on the grid is filled with mini slots, they all turn into Grands automatically.
