#Eye of Spartacus Introduction
Eye of Spartacus
Eye of Spartacus Overview
Pragmatic Play is a recognized name in the video slots market, and Eye of Spartacus is yet another gladiator-themed game from their arsenal. With a decent max win potential, engaging gameplay mechanics, and more, I found this game to be quite fun. However, all that glitters isn’t gold, and after spending hours reviewing it, I found some inconsistencies that I’ll discuss further in this Eye of Spartacus review.
Pros
- Straightforward gameplay
- High max win potential
- Lucrative "Super Buy" feature
- Great graphics and audio
Cons
- Varying RTP
- Limited paylines
- Pricey free spins feature
Eye of Spartacus Video Review
While this Pragmatic Play slot has a rather familiar gameplay, it might be a bit overwhelming for new online slot players. Check out our video review, where you can find a concise brief on how to approach Eye of Spartacus before playing it for real money.
Eye of Spartacus Slot Review
Pragmatic Play’s Eye of Spartacus offers the ideal gaming experience at first glance. It has high volatility, decent RTP, and expanding wild symbols that trigger a bonus free spins game. However, this video slot from Pragmatic Play leaves much to be desired. It’s a great combination of classical reel mechanics with modern features, but a few things stand between it and the league of legendary slots in the market.
Theme
Pragmatic Play has several slots that you can find on top online casinos that are thematically similar to Eye of Spartacus. Gates of Olympus, one of its most popular slot titles, is set in Ancient Greece as well.
Spartacus was the Roman gladiator who led a rebellion and freed the slaves who would have otherwise been bound to entertain the masses throughout their lives. This is reflected in Eye of Spartacus from Pragmatic Play, where the symbols and the background communicate the theme really well.
However, it is curious that he isn’t part of the scenery at all, since he isn’t a part of the game’s symbols. It’s interesting that Spartacus is a conceptual presence here.
Graphics, Sounds, and Animation
The graphics and sounds are, for the most part, fine, but they get a bit on the nose. I played the game for a few hours, and at the end of my session, I had a bit of a headache. The soundtrack is intense and plays on raising the adrenaline levels in players, which might definitely appeal to those who want a high-octane online gambling experience.
I found the animations to be another setback, where we’re spinning the reel, and the overall setting of Ancient Rome isn’t lively enough. I’d have preferred the online slot to have a more vibrant animation style.
RTP, Payout, and Volatility
If I were to look at the best casino games from Pragmatic Play, Eye of Spartacus wouldn’t be up there, especially when it comes to its RTP. Its RTP is slightly above average at 96.42%, which also varies depending on which casino you’re playing the game at.
It’s a high volatility game and has a high potential max win of 10,000x the bet amount, which is great. However, the volatility results in the base game being a bit too dry with intermittent wins that scarcely well up to the surface.
Eye of Spartacus is a video slot that, luckily, delivers a high betting range. Players can make bets ranging from 0.20 to 240, which gives both low-risk-tolerant and high rollers the opportunity to play the game as they want. I’d suggest that players check out the demo version to avoid unnecessary financial risk.
Gameplay
It’s a 5×5 grid slot with 15 paylines, where the game awards wins for any of the paylines executing from left to right with three or more symbols. The high-paying symbols include the tiger, the knight, the executioner, and the carriage, with the sword being the lowest high-paying symbol (which is ironic).
For low-paying symbols, we have the classics such as 10, J, K, A, and Q. Even though their payout ranges from 2x to 3x, I found them to be crucial while sticking to the base game or free spins when it came to accumulating higher payouts.
There are several special symbols in the game, too, such as the Wild and the Scatter. The Wild symbol is the sword, which lands across reels 2, 3, or 4, and unlocks winning combinations by substituting for the relevant symbols.
The scatter, however, unlocks the Free Spins game, which I’ll discuss more in the next section. Overall, the gameplay is fun, but a bit too traditional.
Features
The features add a lot of spunk to the game and make it worthwhile both in terms of entertainment value and lucrative payouts. I felt that while the diversity of these slot features, which include the likes of multipliers and free spins, is plentiful, they also effectively add a sense of thrill to the game.
Free Spins Bonus Game
Whenever 3 or more scatters land across the reels, the FS bonus game is triggered. Players can get up to 10, 15, or 20 FS after landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters, respectively.
The most lucrative mechanic of this feature is that when one expanding wild lands across the reels, it adds a random multiplier on the total payout while turning every symbol into a high-paying symbol that is the next most valued relative to them.
For instance, a Sword will turn into the Chariot, while the Shield will turn into a Sword with this feature. It’s important to note that it only upgrades the lowest high-paying symbol, not standard low-paying symbols. It’s one of the best features in Eye of Spartacus, as it also adds an extra free spin in the game.
Expanding Wild Multiplier
Wild symbols can cover the entire reel (2, 3, or 4) at times to add a random multiplier of up to 100x, which can make the payout much more lucrative than the base game.
Buy Feature
There are two FS bonuses that are available for 100x to 500x the bet. These include the regular free spins bonus game and the Super Free Spins bonus.
The latter functions the same as a standard FS game, but the expanding wild multipliers only include the high values of 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, and 100x. The features will definitely put a strain on your wallet but given the fact that the odds of landing the FS game are once every 291 spins, it’s worth it.
