Turbo Games has brought forth a world that oozes with peak “retrowave vibes” in Limbo Rider. A popular crash game, Limbo Rider presents a decent RTP for players to win, with a relatively standard limit for striking a wager, and a max win of 1,000x. Limbo Rider is a pretty run-of-the-mill crash game that takes place in a kind of virtual space where you need to make a bet to win big. Released in 2022, I can see that it’s a product of its time, where straightforward game mechanics would get popularly paired with incredible visual designs. Limbo Rider shouldn’t seem so difficult to master, but it’s the ultimate game of chance, and I’ll talk more about it for the rest of the review.

Theme

Upon checking out the demo mode of Limbo Rider that you might find on any of the top online casinos out there, you’d find that it’s a particularly sci-fi-influenced game. There’s no particular storyline that’s driving the game, as it’s always a rare occurrence in crash games.

It’s a rider in limbo, where the futuristic car endlessly toils ahead. The main attraction lies in its retrowave art, which imagines a digital future not too dissimilar from the world of the Tron franchise. My gaming experience invoked other retrowave influences such as Hotline Miami, Netflix’s Stranger Things, and more, so I’d definitely give it points for a faithful execution of its vision.

We never get a full view of the car, and its animation made me feel a bit removed from the game. On the other hand, it looks like the car from Back to the Future, which is another excellent reference that Limbo Rider manages to pull out from its hat.

The soundtrack, predictably, employs a synthwave tune that is both minimal and futuristic, complementing the game’s overall tone with utmost precision.
