3 Skulls of Voodoo Slot Review
The theme of the 3 Skulls of Voodoo is, well, voodoo. Not very original but still has its charm. The game is set in a candle-lit witch’s laboratory, with symbols that include gems, a ram’s skull, a potion, a cauldron, a misfortunate voodoo doll, an eerie shrunken head, a pentagram, and the witch herself. The slot’s name comes from the three skulls placed atop the playing grid, each with a different color: blue, red, and green.

Graphics, Sounds, and Animations
The graphics and animations in 3 Skulls of Voodoo are not bad, but fairly average overall. The artwork feels hand-drawn with bold colors and a stylized look, but it doesn’t particularly stand out in today’s visually competitive slot scene. Especially when compared to the top games that the best online casinos have to offer.
The soundtrack feels somewhat out of place. It has a typical jungle vibe, which doesn’t quite match the game’s dark and mysterious tone. I mean, voodoo is indeed often linked to shamans and witch doctors from the deep jungle, but a darker, more ambiental sound would have better captured the eerie atmosphere the game seems to aim for.
RTP, Payout and Volatility
The 3 Skulls of Voodoo RTP stands at a disappointing 94.04%, which is below the industry average. However, even high-RTP games can vary depending on the casino, so your actual RTP largely depends on where you choose to play.
Despite its lower RTP, 3 Skulls of Voodoo offers solid payout potential. The max win is a reasonably good 25,000x the base bet, and the game also features four jackpot levels:
- Mega – 500x the base bet
- Major – 50x the base bet
- Minor – 20x the base bet
- Mini – 10x the base bet
The volatility is rated as medium, and it genuinely feels that way while playing. It’s well balanced and arguably the strongest aspect of this slot game. Wins come frequently enough to keep you engaged, but not so often that they take away from the anticipation.
Even though 3 Skulls of Voodoo isn’t a high-volatility slot, my best advice is always to try free demo games first. It’s the best way to explore the features and get a true feel for the game before wagering real money.
Gameplay
The 3 Skulls of Voodoo slot by Blueprint Gaming uses a 5×6 grid with 50 paylines. One interesting aspect of the gameplay is that some of the symbols are stacked. Coin scatters take up two positions, while three of the higher-paying symbols — the voodoo doll, the shrunken head, and the witch — take up four positions. But all of them become singular symbols during bonus rounds.
Another interesting thing about this slot, and its signature feature, is that there are three different scatters that trigger three types of bonus rounds, which can even be triggered all at once, resulting in up to 37 free spins in the luckiest scenario, and an abundance of special perks.
In addition to scatters, which are designed as Skull Coins, there’s a Voodoo Wild symbol and a fairly large set of regular paying symbols.

Features
3 Skulls of Voodoo doesn’t offer too much in terms of features, but what it does centers around the three skulls and their bonus rounds. So, let’s take a closer look at how they work.
Skull Coins
The Skull Coins come in three colors, red, blue, and green, corresponding to the three skulls atop the grid. In the base game, they act as scatters and their sole purpose is to trigger bonus rounds. Each is stacked two positions high and must be fully visible on the grid to be active.
Landing 1 to 3 fully visible Skull Coins may randomly trigger the bonus rounds of the corresponding color. However, landing 4 or more guarantees bonus rounds, and can even trigger two or all three types at once. The true power of the Skull Coins, though, shines during these bonus rounds, which I’ll explain below.
Bonus Rounds
This is where 3 Skulls of Voodoo truly shines and offers its highest winning potential, but unfortunately, there’s no option to buy your entry into bonus rounds. Each of the three skulls has a distinct bonus round, each with its own unique special features:
- Red Skull Bonus Rounds – Awards between 9 and 15 free spins, determined by a wheel of fortune. Only red Skull Coins appear, and they are now a singular symbol that can randomly trigger one of the four jackpots (Mega, Major, Minor, or Mini) or award instant cash prizes ranging from 1x to 40x the bet.
- Green Skull Bonus Rounds – Awards between 7 and 12 free spins and lands only green Skull Coins. The coins summon 4 to 10 pentagram-shaped Voodoo Wilds onto the reels and may also trigger instant cash prizes.
- Blue Skull Bonus Rounds – Awards between 5 and 10 free spins and lands only blue Skull Coins, which grant extra spins (1, 3, or 5 at a time) and may also trigger the same instant cash prizes.
When two or even all three bonus rounds are triggered at once, their special features are combined. For example, triggering both the red and green rounds means you’ll land both red and green Skull Coins, each with its respective effects. And the same goes for any other combination.
The number of free spins also adds up when different bonus rounds are triggered together. For instance, if the red skull awards 9 to 15 spins and the green skull adds 7 to 12, together they award from 16 to 27 free spins. If all three skulls are triggered at once, and you hit the highest values on the wheel of fortune, you can get up to 37 free spins.
