Le King Video Review
This slot from Hacksaw Gaming might be difficult for slot beginners to get into. Whether you want to get the hang of how to unlock its FeatureSpins, how golden squares function in the game, and more, this video review will help you play the game to its fullest potential.
Le King Slot Review
Le King is another release from Hacksaw Gaming that continues Smokey’s adventures through different settings. We’ve seen Le Bandit, Le Viking, and Le Pharaoh thus far, and every step of the way, these Hacksaw Gaming slots have upped the game through new mechanics. I found novelty in this slot game, and I’ll discuss every aspect of it in the next few sections.
Theme
If you’re an avid online slot player, you must’ve seen the likes of Le Bandit or Le Viking in the “popular games” sections across top online casinos out there. That’s because Hacksaw Gaming’s slots featuring the beloved Smokey Raccoon are all the rage within the community.
The game acknowledges the adventures that Smokey has been through for bigger wins in the game’s official description. It reads, “He’s devoured croissants atop the Eiffel Tower, dusted off the ruins of ancient Pharaohs, and walked the halls of Valhalla. Now, his next heist takes him to Spin City, where he’s donning the ultimate disguise—the King himself.”
This is a reference to Elvis Presley, who is most frequently referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll,” and through the ‘60s, cemented his legacy as an electrifying performer. Needless to say, Hacksaw Gaming once again nails the thematic execution in this series.
Graphics, Sounds, and Animation
This slot by Hacksaw Gaming is similar to the original Le Bandit in terms of graphics, animations, and sounds. The cartoon style might seem too whimsical to some, but I enjoyed the return to the familiar visual style that made Le Bandit, Le Pharaoh, and Le Viking such standout hits.
The animation is spot-on here, too. I found Smokey’s animation to be an excellent addition to the game. Here, Smokey remains ever focused on the grid, with starry sunglasses, a white and pink suit, and a microphone in hand.
Le King is a video slot that feels similar to others in the series. The soundtrack is as stimulating as the ones used in Le Viking or Le Bandit, though it can barely evoke the Las Vegas casino vibes that it’s set in.
RTP, Payout, and Volatility
It’d be a stretch to say that Le King is among the best casino games from Hacksaw Gaming’s extensive library based on its RTP. It has an RTP of 96.14 %, although it can drop as low as 88.25 % with its Max Win Jackpot Marker feature.
It’s a medium volatility slot, and since I could come across moderate wins every so often, the variable RTP modes made sense to me. While the slot features a range of €0.10 to €100, which might support only risk-averse players and alienate high rollers, it does have an excellent max win of up to 20,000x the bet.
With a 41.33% hit frequency, the Hacksaw Gaming slot feels inconsistent about its identity. While its medium volatility made me comfortable playing it over long periods of time, its barely above-average RTP disappointed me a little.
Gameplay
This 5×6 grid cluster pays slot delivers wins when winning symbols bunch together either horizontally or vertically. New symbols cascade below, which creates more opportunities for wins in the same spin.
Speaking of which, while the low-paying symbols include 10, J, A, K, and Q, the high-paying symbols include casino chips, microphones, dice, roulette wheels, and watermelons. The gameplay is pretty standard, featuring similarities with the older slots in the series. However, it’s made much more stimulating when combined with its special features.
Features
While not outright changing the gameplay, there are several features in Le King that you can activate to add more thrill to the game. I’m very keen on some, while others are a bit puzzling to me.
Golden Squares
After winning combinations, blocks that contained the winning cascade feature had golden squares. After a Neon Rainbow symbol lands across these golden squares, there’s a chance that players can land gold, silver, bronze coins, treasure pots, gold clovers, green clovers, or jackpot markers.
While Bronze coins deliver 0.2x to 4x the bet value, Silver coins deliver values of 5x to 20x. Gold coins are the most lucrative, delivering anywhere between 25x and 500x the bet.
Clover Symbols
The Clover symbols activate after golden squares reveal more elements on the grid. While Green clovers multiply special symbols adjacent to them, such as Treasure Pots or Coins, by 2x to 20x, the Gold clovers multiply the values of all Coins or Treasure Pots by 2x to 20x.
Treasure Pots
Treasure Pots hold a lot of value, too, as when they’re activated, they collect all the coins and treasure pots around them in the golden squares, too.
Jackpot Markers
Golden squares also reveal Jackpot Markers, which include Mini (10x), Major (100x), Mega (1,000x) and Max Win (20,000x) markers. Only the Neon Rainbow activates the bonus by landing with it. However, one of each jackpot symbol will ever land together, as only one jackpot can appear every spin.
Spin City Bonus Round
Players can get the chance to roll featurespins, which are triggered by landing 3 FS scatters during the Le King gameplay in the base game. While the base game mechanics remain active during this round, bonus game features such as the golden square remain active too.
By landing 2 or 3 scatters, players can score two to four additional free spins, respectively.
Viva Le Bandit Bonus Game
Upon landing five scatters in the base game, players can come across the hidden bonus game, where they are awarded 10 free spins too. This is similar to the original FS bonus game, but the added benefit here is that with every spin, golden squares are always activated by a Neon Rainbow. Furthermore, every spin guarantees silver or gold coins.
Bonus Buy
There are bonus feature buys available for players as well, granted that they spend a certain percentage of the bet amount. You can get the BonusHunt FS for 3x the bet, while the Shamrock & Roll FS can be purchased for 60x the bet for the guarantee that across each spin, at least one win and a Neon Rainbow land.
Finally, the Spin City FS round will cost you 80x the bet, while Jackpot of Gold clocks in at 250x the price. Overall, the bonus features are many, though the jackpot mechanics are all over the place and come across as convoluted. I personally didn’t enjoy these features much, and I’d recommend new players to try the free demo before playing for real money!
