Tanked Game Overview
War… war never changes. If you’ve played the Fallout series, Ron Perlman’s calm voice probably still resonates in your mind. The quote encapsulates mankind’s persisting tendency towards conflict until complete mutual destruction. Well, today’s monstrous characters aren’t really human, but they sure are ready to fight each other until they all perish, and beyond! Nolimit City brings us a slot like no other. Alongside the characteristic high volatility and complex features, they introduce very, very innovative gameplay. So, keep reading this Tanked slot review, as this is a game you don’t want to miss.

Tanked Slot Review
Tanked is a unique slot game set on a large grid that varies between 6×6 and 9×9, depending on the gameplay scenario. It features four main characters who roam across the reels, collecting the paying symbols. True to Nolimit City’s style, the game is packed with features and boasts a highly creative design. So, let’s break it down into its various elements and explore each one in detail.
Theme
The Tanked slot centers around 4 monstrous warlords that ride their tiny tanks and battle each other until total destruction. We’re not given any backstory about them, and we don’t even know their names, leaving it up to us to imagine who they are and what dark events have caused their intense rivalry. As the writer of this review, I’ve taken the liberty of naming them myself — after all, we need a way to refer to them somehow. So, let’s call them Blue Berret Goblin, Turquoise Tanker Boar, Overlord Ork, and Generalissimo Walrus. The four of them compete to collect as many gems as possible (which is how the paying symbols are designed) and blast each other using all sorts of weaponry.
This humorous, cartoonish theme itself doesn’t come as much of a shock for a developer known for some brilliantly quirky and unusual designs. So, this game’s theme isn’t what’s surprising, but instead, its amazingly innovative gameplay, which I’ll explain in detail later on.
Graphic, Sounds and Animations
I expected nothing short of a top-notch visual design, and the game lived up to my expectations. Graphics are sharp like Generalissimo Walrus’s strategic mind, and feature bold, expressive colors. However, what truly impressed me was the quality of the animations. The way the warlords move, how they fire their rockets and throw grenades, and then the explosion effects… every detail shows the tremendous effort put into making it look stunning. To top it off, the game is accompanied by an exhilarating soundtrack that carries a dark, menacing tone!
RTP, Payout and Volatility
Tanked boasts a pretty solid RTP of 96.04%, which is high enough to appease even the most discerning players. The volatility is (very) high but doesn’t create the long, dry streaks that are typically associated with such games. Instead, the base game is quite generous and smaller prizes occur regularly, as the warlords collect a gem or two every few spins. On the other hand, the max win of 25,000x — which I have scored while testing the game — is big enough to blast you out of your seat like a grenade.
Gameplay
If you prefer to play demo games before wagering real money, I highly recommend playing the Tanked slot demo. It’s a great way to familiarize yourself with its mechanics and features, especially given its unique gameplay.
Forget paylines, it’s time to collect loot! These warlords don’t rely on symbols to fall into place along a payline, they go and grab what’s theirs. That being said, Tanked features four collector symbols (the warlords) that move around the grid. Each of them collects gems of the same color as themselves, moving to horizontally or vertically adjacent connected streaks of gems. They keep collecting until no more gems are available, at which point new symbols cascade down to fill the empty spaces. This allows the warlords to make multiple moves in a single spin, thus resulting in several wins. A new spin only happens once all possible collections have been completed.
Each gem color has a specific payout per piece, and the total payout is determined simply by the number of gems a warlord collects. The table below outlines the payouts for each gem and the corresponding warlords:
| Warlord | Paying symbol | Payout per piece |
| Blue Berret Gremlin | Dark Blue | 0.05x |
| Turquoise Tanker Boar | Light Blue (Turquoise) | 0.05x |
| Overlord Orc | Green | 0.10x |
| Generalissimo Walrus | Red | 0.15x |
Features
Once again, the creative minds of Nolimit City showed us their characteristic personality with an extensive, complex, and highly innovative array of features. If you’ve played their games at the best online casino, you know they never lack in this regard, but the Tanked slot really takes it to the next level. So, let’s have a look at the many, many brilliant features this game possesses.
xLoot – Payouts occur when the active moving warlord collects gem symbols matching his color (the loot). All warlords can also collect wild symbols. Once all possible collections are completed, symbols drop down to refill the reels in an avalanche manner.
Multipliers – Any warlord can collect multiplier symbols, which apply to all wins. Multipliers are summed up if more than one of them is collected in a single spin.
Tank Boosters – Warlords can collect four types of Tank Boosters to attack each other. They carry them around until all movement on the grid stops and then activate them. Those are:
- Rocket – A warlord fires at a wall near a random enemy warlord, removing all enemies and pay symbols in a powerful explosion. This increases the grid size by one step.
- Grenade – A warlord throws a grenade at a random enemy, causing an explosion that removes all pay symbols.
- Power Drill – A warlord equipped with this booster drills his way toward the largest cluster of matching-colored symbols, removing all enemies, pay symbols, and wilds along the path while collecting any Tank Boosters, multipliers, or scatter symbols he encounters. This booster does not affect the xBomb, Barrel Bomb, or MAXWIN symbols. If the warlord can’t move, it explodes, clearing pay symbols in the explosion.
- Airstrike – A warlord targets up to three enemies and calls in an airstrike, triggering explosions in their locations.
If a Tank Booster eliminates a warlord, he loses his life and reappears on the reels when new symbols drop in a cascading manner. If he had collected a Tank Booster before the explosion, he retains it when he reappears. Explosions do not affect scatters, xSplit, xNudge, or wild symbols.
xBomb – It eliminates all gem symbols in an explosion and boosts the overall multiplier by +1. It will only detonate when there is no movement left and no Tank Boosters to be activated.
Barrel Bombs – It removes all gem symbols in an explosion and expands the grid size vertically or horizontally by +1 step. Like the xBomb, it will only detonate when there is no movement left and no Tank Boosters to be activated.
Booms – When the warlords find themselves face-to-face with each other, things tend to escalate. When 3 of them are next to each other and unable to move, they trigger a Small Boom explosion, which clears all gems and themselves in the blast. When 4 of them are together and unable to move, they trigger a Big Boom explosion, removing all gems and themselves in the explosion and expanding the grid size by +1 step.
Kill Count – Every time a warlord is caught in the blast of a Tank Booster, xBomb, Barrel Bomb, or a Boom, he loses a life. Each warlord’s lives are displayed in one of the four corners of the grid, and each has 3 of them. When he loses all 3, he is killed and removed from the reels, together with all his gems of matching color. However, he returns on the next spin.
xNudge Wild – This feature, which is unique to Nolimit City’s slots, has made its way into Tanked as well. It can land anywhere on the grid and nudges its way down until it hits a non-paying symbol. If there’s no multiplier in the moment it lands, it sets the multiplier to 2x. With each nudge that it makes, it increases the multiplier by +1.
xSplit – The xSplit symbol splits all gems symbols either horizontally or vertically, doubling them, and then changes into a wild. It also doubles the value of any multiplier caught in its slice.
Grid Expansion – The default size of the grid is 6×6, but it can expand up to 9×9 under certain effects. The grid expands by one step when a Rocket collides with a wall, a Barrel Bomb detonates, or a Big Boom happens. The expansion happens in four stages:
- Step 1 – From 6×6 to 8×6 or 6×8, depending on whether the expansion is horizontal or vertical.
- Step 2 – From 8×6 or 6×8 to 8×8, depending on whether the expansion is horizontal or vertical.
- Step 3 – From 8×8 to 9×8 or 8×9, depending on whether the expansion is horizontal or vertical.
- Step 4 – From 9×8 or 8×9 to 9×9, depending on whether the expansion is horizontal or vertical.
If an xBomb or Barrel Bomb is caught in the blast of a Tank Booster, the grid will immediately expand to 9×9.
Carnage Spins & Carnage Royale – Landing 3 scatter symbols triggers 5 Carnage Spins. The Multipliers, Kill Count, and grid size are carried over from the base game during this feature. If 4 scatters land, 7 Carnage Royale free spins are activated. This time, the Kill Count from the base game is transferred, the grid expands to 9×9, and the multiplier increases by +5, also carried over from the base game. If all characters are eliminated in a single explosion during a free spin, the game progresses to Mayhem Spins, and the remaining free spins are played this way.
Mayhem Spins – They are triggered when all four warlords lose their 3 lives and perish in the same explosion. The grid then expands to 9×9, and the current multiplier increases by +10. Each warlord’s life is reduced to just one. If they all perish in a single explosion, an extra free spin is awarded, and the multiplier is boosted by an additional +10.
