One of the most obvious things to say about Kraken’s Cove at first glance is that it’s a well-programmed game. There are so many components within the game, and the cascading wins are highly satisfying to witness as everything comes together. It certainly ranks among one of the best online casino games for both beginners and advanced players alike.  

Another impressive feat of this game is its visual treatment. Unlike many casino slot games in the market, Kraken’s Cove begins with a cutscene, which sets up the story perfectly. Theme

Are you a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise? If so, you’ll love Kraken’s Cove. The slot’s titular monster is at the center of it all, making the game’s motif of gaining treasures despite the looming threat of loss all the more enticing. It’s an online slot thematically similar to the likes of Thunderkick’s Beat the Beast: Kraken’s Lair and Novomatic’s Diamond Link Almighty Kraken. 

Furthermore, there’s a story element to it, which becomes apparent from the opening scene of the game. The pirate and his parrot spot the Kraken screaming with his flailing tentacles and thus begins the game. 

Graphics, Sounds, and Animation

Kraken’s Cove is an overall improvement from Relax Gaming’s Plunderland, which was released in 2022. Coming with a bright color theme with richly uses oceanic blue and other tropical shades, the online slot game is deeply interesting to gaze at, to say the least. The symbols, which include varied barrels, pirate ships, helms, Kraken’s juice, and pirates, are highly animated, which, in our opinion, made the game feel a lot more immersive.  

 

Another aspect left a mark on us – its highly lively background. You can see sharks and shoals of fish all across the ocean, where the game largely takes place. This experience is only enhanced through the game’s music, which makes Kraken’s Cove seem like a welcoming place, though it still projects the edge that is reflective of the game’s overall theme. You can even interact with the water through random clicks, which makes the fish scurry away. This adds to the overall immersion that the game has to offer.

RTP, Payout, and Volatility

The theoretical RTP (return-to-player) of Kraken’s Cove is 96.10%, which is only a little bit higher than the standard RTP of 96% across slot machine games.  

In terms of volatility, the game varies from medium to high, which falls into the category of some of the best online casino games that feature high volatility too. It’s certainly a game that invites experienced players over those who are just starting with online casino games, but once you strike a win, it happens through clusters of oncoming bonuses, thus enhancing the overall experience for the player.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Kraken’s Cove is simple, yet the sheer size of its 7×7 grid is quite incredible. In this game, the player assumes the role of a pirate, going all out against the Kraken in the middle for massive treasures. Since it’s a cluster-based game, there are several symbols that players will require to match. As you can see, there are far too many paylines to keep a count of due to a large number of symbols, though it only makes the game all the more exciting.  

Kraken’s Cove has a stake range that extends from 10c to $100, which leaves a lot of opportunity for those with varied risk appetites. As noted before, the various symbols in the game make clusters of five, which can give you up to 0.1 to 0.5x the bet amount. This increases up to 70x, and even 500x when clusters making up more than 32 symbols are executed. The most exciting of all is the wild chest symbols, which can substitute the symbols in a cluster during a win.  

Features 

Unlike many popular games on the market, Kraken’s Cove is loaded with features. This sets it apart from traditional online slot machine games. Here are the features that stood out for us and kept us engaged with the game. Some of these include the Ship Wild expansion collection, and free spins.  

• Wild Chest Symbols – These are chests that contain a range of coins. Once the Wild Ship symbol reaches the hotspot, the coins are collected following the player’s win. During free spins, the coins are collected despite the lack of a win at all.  

• Wild Ship Symbol – There’s a single ship symbol that remains active constantly. It continues to move with each spin, either vertically or horizontally, and when it lands on the hotspot (the Kraken’s zone), it can expand to release a bonus across 2×2, 3×3, 4×4, or 5×5 grids. Following the win, the ship gets relocated to another position, and its multiplier keeps getting bigger with each win.  

• Gamble Feature – Upon the trigger of a free spin session, players can opt for a gamble to gain more of them (up to 20), or a better multiplier value of the Ship Wild symbol (up to 50 times). Upon success or failure, players can get either the highest value of either or drop down to the lowest possible valve. If there’s no lower ceiling, then players lose out altogether, and return to the base game. This mechanic makes the game a lot more exciting.  

• Free Spin Market – Players have the ability to buy free spins to improve their odds and pursue the possibility of a win.
